Vietnamese turn their backs on domestic fruit, opt to purchase foreign grown

Consumers in Vietnam are opting to purchase foreign fruit and are turning their backs on domestic grown products, says the Vietnam News Agency.

In an article published on Feb. 13, VNA claimed that imports of foreign fruit are running more than $5 million per day in the lead up to TET. The article does not say how that number was determined, but it is more than likely just a guess.

This increase is consistent with the trend over the past few years, says VNA, as more and more Vietnamese consumers prefer foreign grown fruit and vegetables.
