I truly enjoy Vietnamese TET. Already our family has received enough bottles of wine from France, the U.S. and Argentina to last a year.  Along with bags of potatoes, vegetables, cookies, dishes, silverware, coffee, flowers, peach tree branches, traditional foods and so on.

All the businesses are closed and will remain closed for a week or so. Hanoi is vacant as all the people have gone to their homes in the countryside.  It’s a great time to take a motorbike around the capital city as there will be virtually no traffic.

As my job has always been to translate Vietnamese into English, most of you might not understand the words in the following video. But I hope you’ll take a minute to listen and I think you’ll be able to capture the spirit of TET in Hanoi.

The title simply means – Looking forward to the coming year.

Chúc Mừng Năm Mới !  Happy New Year
