I really never learn when I try to paint things freehand on my nails. I always think that the brush that I choose looks a lot thinner than it is when I end up painting with it. So I feel this design was a bit of a fail as the gold lines came out way to thick for what I wanted, which makes the overall design look a bit ‘messy’.
I started by painting all my nails in 2 coats of a dark blue shade. However on the thumb, middle and ring fingers I left some negative space.
On the thumb and ring fingers I left a triangular area of negative space at the base of the nail with the point going towards the tip. I then used a striping brush and a gold polish to paint a chevron at the tip of the nail with the point going upwards.
