Living in Hong Kong gives you the added benefit that you’re always just a few hours away from South East Asia – which is the paradise for having a short break. And one of those places that I’ve always wanted to visit was Vietnam. We had already booked a trip to Hanoi for later this year, so for an impromptu weekend trip, we decided to go to Ho Chi Minh (also known as Saigon) instead – being an IHG member, we settled on the Intercontinental Saigon.

The hotel is about 50mins from the airport and since that we were arriving in the evening, I decided to book the hotel car so that they’ll know when we’re arriving and we can get checked in asap. Check-in was smooth and done at the Club Lounge (more on that below)
